A Day Out With Mom

i spent the whole day with my mom today.
we watched fantastic 4: rise of the silver surfer at ang mo kio hub in the afternoon. i was exciting but i thought it was pretty short for a blockbuster movie...only abt 1h 30mins.

we then travelled down to Suntec City Fountain Terrace and we saw this really beautiful fountain there...of course much smaller than the fountain of wealth.

it definitely looks better live.


we had dinner at the Surf 'n' Turf restaurant.



there was a promotion whereby u order a starter and get a new york sirloin steak at $10 only. we ordered that and Surf 'n' Turf salad which was 20% off when my used her ocbc credit card.


starter (i forgot its name, it's too complicated): cheese, prawns etc. wrapped in tortilla. to be dipped in salsa sauce. wad can i say...bravo!


new york sirloin steak. they allow u to choose your side of either french fries, mashed potato or baked potato. personally, i prefer the baked potato. and the waitress also gave us a choice of toppings for the baked potato: chives, butter, sour cream, bacon, cheese. u can even add all if u want!
more choices...mushroom sauce, black pepper sauce or garlic sauce to go with your steak. i'm crazy abt the mushroom sauce coz it's so delicious!


ahh...yes. the one and only Surf 'n' Turf salad...with chicken, prawn mayonnaise. when we came to this dish, we had no choice but to ask the waitress to pack it up for us. it was just too much. both of us were full by then even though we shared the steak.
did i mention we also get to choose the sauces for the salad? italian, french, ranch, honey mustard, 1000 island, vinaigrette, bleu cheese (aka blue cheese, bleu is french)...& etc. i chose ranch, honey mustard and italian sauces...the rest was either boring or sounded intimidating.

you know, this outing with my mom has turned educational...i now understand a bit more about western dining...who knows? i might need this knowledge in future.
